Alice Neel: Late Portraits and Still Lifes
An exhibition of portraits and still lifes from 1964 to 1983 has opened at David Zwirner in New York. The exhibition comprises a number of important later works including portraits of Sherry Speeth, Joey Skaggs, and Geoffrey Hendricks and Brian, as well as major still life paintings. Neel painted still lifes throughout her career but hitherto they have been somewhat overlooked in her oeuvre. The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue with an introduction by Tim Griffin, formerly editor of Artforum. For an interview with Geoffrey Hendricks click here. The exhibition runs till 23 June.
